Southern Ontario, Canada, is bracing for a major storm that is expected to dump as much as a foot of snow beginning overnight Monday.

The snowfall will come as a massive low-pressure system moves over the Great Lakes.

Coupled with high winds the storm could produce white-out conditions.

The Canadian Automobile Association is recommending drivers check their vehicles to ensure good working order, and travel with a survival kit that includes blankets, food and candles.

The snow storm, which could be the biggest in two years, comes on the heels of a major winter chill which has kept the area in a deep freeze for the past several days.

Google Egypt 2011,Google Launches Twitter Workaround In Egypt,1.02.2011,egypt twitter, internet in egypt, cairo, latest news,How to use Google service use the service in egypt?

Like many people we've been glued to the news unfolding in Egypt and thinking of what we could do to help people on the ground," read a post on Google's official corporate blog on Monday.

The service, which Google said was developed with engineers from Twitter, allows people to dial a telephone number and leave a voicemail. The voicemail is automatically translated into an audio file message that is sent on Twitter using the identifying tag #egypt, Google said.

Google said in the blog post, titled "Some weekend work that will (hopefully) enable more Egyptians to be heard," that no Internet connection is needed to use the service.

It listed three phone numbers for people to call to use the service.

Internet social networking services like Twitter and Facebook have been important tools of communications for protesters in Egypt who have taken to the streets since last week to demonstrate against the 30-year rule of President Hosni Mubarak.

Internet service has been suspended around the country and phone text messaging has been disabled.

A source familiar with the matter said Google, whose corporate motto is "Don't Be Evil," was not taking sides in the crisis in Egypt, but was simply supporting access to information as it has done with other services such as video website YouTube.

YouTube has been streaming live coverage of Al Jazeera's broadcasts of the events in Egypt.

Dozens of the so-called speak-to-tweet messages were featured on Twitter on Monday. The messages ranged from a few seconds to several minutes and featured people identifying themselves as Egyptians and describing the situations in various parts of the country.

"The government is spreading rumours of fear and of burglary and of violence," said one of the messages from an English speaker. "The only incidence of theft and burglary are done by the police themselves."

Google listed the following numbers for people to use the service: +16504194196 or +390662207294 or +97316199855.

Nebraska Teresa Scanlan- Becomes The Youngest Miss America(2011),Wikipedia,profile,Photos,
Teresa Scanlan, a recent high school graduate, became the youngest woman to be honored with the title since 1921. She was the youngest contestant in Saturday's pageant at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas – and the youngest in the competition's history.

Scanlan, who earlier in the evening played "White Water Chopsticks" on piano, won over the seven judges – including The View's Joy Behar and Dancing With The Stars pro Tony Dovolani – to take home the title, besting 52 other women in the pageant's 90th anniversary.
Scanlan, who turns 18 next month, replaces outgoing Miss America Caressa Cameron, who handed the Gering, Neb., native the crown. Along with the title, the sash and the glimmering tiara, Scanlan, who aspires to attend law school and be a politician one day, won a $50,000 scholarship.
The smiley blonde, who does not have a boyfriend, said she worried that the judges would think the job was "too big" for her, considering her age, but she was determined to make believers out of them.
During her year-long reign, Scanlan hopes to brings awareness to eating disorders. Getting her inspiration from a friend who struggled with bulimia, Scanlan said the issue isn't brought to the forefront enough.

"We simply can't afford to let this issue go on because millions of girls and boys are out there dying form eating disorders. You can be this successful and you don't have to hurt yourself, you don't have to go to extremes," she said. "I never passed up a cookie on my journey here."

As the first runner up, Miss Arkansas Alyse Eady will take over the crown if Scanlan is unable to perform the duties of Miss America. Scanlan's victory denied sentimental favorites Miss Arizona Katy Bulkley, a college student who dedicated her vocal performance her mentor U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, and Miss Delaware Kayla Martell, a bald beauty who suffers from hair loss due to alopecia areata.

Wikileaks China | China Blocks access to Wikileaks | china Oposed UNSC Expansion

China has blocked Internet access to WikiLeaks' release of more than 250,000 U.S. Department of State cables, with its Foreign Ministry saying that it does not wish to see any disturbance in China-U.S. relations.
"China takes note of the government reports. We hope the U.S. side will handle the relevant issues," Hong Lei, a spokesman for China's Foreign Ministry, said at a Beijing news conference on Tuesday. "As for the content of the documents, we will not comment on that."
Access to the WikiLeak's Cablegate page, as well as certain Chinese language news articles covering the topic, have been blocked in the country since Monday. Other articles from the Chinese press that are accessible on the web appear to only concern the U.S. response.
The ban on WikiLeaks comes as one of the major revelations provided by the the release was a document linking China's Politburo to the December 2009 hack of Google's computer systems. An unidentified Chinese contact told the U.S. Embassy in Beijing that China's Politburo had "directed the intrusion into Google's computer systems," the New York Times reported Sunday, citing one of the cables.
Although the cable does not provide conclusive proof linking China to the Google attack, it reinforces the concern that the Chinese government has sponsored organized hacking attempts against U.S. computers.

Japan’s meteorological agency reported a magnitude of 6.9, however, the U.S. Geological Survey said the quake was 6.6. The reason for the discrepancy was not immediately clear.
Earthquake hit at 12:25 p.m. local time (0325 GMT), with the epicenter near the Ogasawara Islands, about 500 miles (800 kilometers) south of the main Japanese island, the agency said. It struck at a depth of 300 miles (480 kilometers).
The Ogasawara are known as the Bonin Islands outside of Japan.
No damage or injuries were immediately reported, and Japan’s meteorological agency said there was no danger of a tsunami.

Pope Condoms | Pope Benedict XVI says that condom use is acceptable "in certain cases"

Pope Benedict XVI says that condom use is acceptable "in certain cases", notably "to reduce the risk of infection" with HIV, in a book due out Tuesday, apparently softening his once hardline stance.
In a series of interviews published in his native German, the 83-year-old Benedict is asked whether "the Catholic Church is not fundamentally against the use of condoms."
"It of course does not see it as a real and moral solution," the pope replies.
"In certain cases, where the intention is to reduce the risk of infection, it can nevertheless be a first step on the way to another, more humane sexuality," said the head of the world's 1.1 billion Catholics.
The new volume, entitled "Light of the World: The Pope, the Church and the Signs of the Times", is based on 20 hours of interviews conducted by German journalist Peter Seewald.
Until now, the Vatican had prohibited the use of any form of contraception -- other than abstinence -- even as a guard against sexually transmitted disease.

New Zealand mine explosion | Latest News about NewZealand Mine Blast

They are a hardy type in Ataura. As might be expected of those living in a town on the remote west coast of New Zealand's South Island, the locals pride themselves on their resilience and ability to cope with adversity.
But as they waited to learn the fate of 29 men who have not been heard of since yesterday when an explosion ripped through the Pike River mine, many in the close-knit community were fearing the worst.
The local mayor, Tony Kokshoorn, has briefed the families of the missing men, who include two Britons. He said they were "grief-stricken" by a disaster that has touched the entire community.
"There's a little bit of anger, there's a little bit of despair," Kokshoorn said. "There's tension building all round, people aren't talking about the worst, but I can see it on their faces.
"One of my councillors, he's down there [in the mine]," Kokshoorn said. "There was a young guy that just got the rugby league player of the region last week; he's down there. There's a local publican, real popular fellow; his son's down there. There's a woman I talked to; her husband's down there, they've got five young kids. It's right across the board. It's just devastating for our community."
Local police have insisted they "remain positive" the men will be found alive. But so far they have been unable to send in rescuers because the area has not been proven to be safe.
A local union representative, Trevor Bolderson, warned the chances of a second blast were high. "Gas samples taken at the mine are turning the wrong way and we are expecting that the second explosion may be forthcoming," he said. "At the moment the rescue guys can't get into the mine because of this."
New Zealand's prime minister, John Key, said his government was "doing what we can to make sure these 29 brave men are taken out of the mine and are here in one piece".
Both missing Britons are believed to be Scottish. One, Pete Rodger, 40, from Perthshire, emigrated to New Zealand two years ago to be closer to his mother and sister, according to Scotland's Courier newspaper. The second has been named in media reports as Malcolm Campbell, 25, originally from St Andrews in Fife.
News of the disaster, which is likely to have been caused by methane gas, emerged when two injured miners stumbled to the surface hours after a blast shot up the mine's 108m ventilation shaft.
But since then Peter Whittall, chief executive of Pike River Coal, said nothing had been heard from the 16 employees and 13 contract miners known to be below.
Underground communications are down except for one emergency phone that rescuers have been calling constantly without success.
Whittall suggested the miners, who range in age from 17 to 62 and include a South African and two Australians, might be trapped in an area away from the phone or are reluctant to venture from an area of safety to answer it.
"It's quite conceivable that there is a large number of men sitting around the end of the open [ventilation] pipe, waiting and wondering why we are taking our time to get to them," Whittall said.
